The Joys of Friendship…

I am blessed to call some truly remarkable people friends – but I am exceedingly fortunate to have my true friend, Jocelyn.

She is an amazingly talented writer and all around exceptional person.

Recently, I recorded some of our conversations while testing video recording software. When watching the videos later I realized something profound – the two of us are insane.

In this conversation Jocelyn was relating her vacation adventures with her Dad and another mutual friend Mel in North Carolina. They were traveling in a tiny economy car which wasn’t a remotely comfortable ride in the best of circumstances – especially with four people crammed together. Despite the challenges of a microscopic automobile and horrible road conditions Jocelyn’s Dad decided he must find the fabled waterfalls of Asheville North Carolina. It is important to note that once Jocelyn’s father has decided on something he wants to do no amount of discomfort or threats to personal safety will keep him from his objective.

This video is the story of one man’s unwavering effort and his daughter’s patient suffering. It was very difficult to find five minutes of coherent dialogue that didn’t contain generous amounts of profanity. (we are both of Irish lineage)

I felt perhaps some readers/ watchers might be amused by the tale.

Enjoy!

Also – I may have something to say about the recent IRS scandal soon…

Super Bowl XLVII

Hey football fans!! (that would be American Football – FYI)

Guess whose team won the Super Bowl!!! Oh yea, that’s right – yours truly. Some of you may recall my disclosure as a Raven’s fan in a video a while back. In that video masterpiece I explained that I am a fan of that team because my favorite color is purple. This isn’t the sole reason however, ’cause Ravens are just cool – period. Hey, you Edgar Allan Poe fans know what I’m talking about.

Well, it was an exciting Super Bowl at my house – I threw a decent party and it was a lot of fun. There were some 49er fans in the mix – I kinda wanted to feel bad for them – but just couldn’t feel anything but incredible, self-satisfied, near orgasmic joy.

It was especially gratifying in light of the constant reminder that my beloved team was gonna lose – which was practically a certainty. Since the first playoff game I would be accosted by random football aficionados while sportin’ my awesome Raven’s NFL jersey, who would try to give me helpful tips on how to handle the disappointment of the Ravens certain and inevitable loss.

I especially remember the affable yet annoying razzing I endured from the check-out clerk and the entire line at the Wal-Mart as they remarked on what was most assuredly was going to be a glorious victory for the Denver Broncos. In jovial mock sympathy for my misguided loyalty, my fellow grocery line-mates only hoped the Ravens would not lose too badly; so that I might avoid a truly painful game day afternoon.

I have decided to track each of them down and demand a written acknowledgement that they were wrong and I was right.

Then I am going to email the various sports show hosts and sports commentators and inform them that I OBVIOUSLY know far more than they do about football.

So rejoice fellow Ravens fans… our victory is complete! Even the “power outage” did not result in a defeat of our noble team.

… oh and Joe Flacco is like way hotter than Colin Kaepernick…

I know this jersey is totally cool - it's only natural if you are jealous.

I received a lot of requests for a follow up to the last post – I know it was really long but I didn’t want to chop it up. Those of you that  read it in its entirety in one setting – thank you.

Damon and I are planning a follow up – and should have it out next week.

I hope you all enjoy reading our amateur efforts it as much as we enjoy writing them. We thank you all for the great emails and the comments.

I think the comments made by readers are much more funny than my posts, you guys are my muse. I try to live up to your wit and it is difficult!

I love getting emails as well.  I have set up a separate email for this blog so I can be sure to read all the emails sent to me regarding the blog, I use an email that is not dedicated to the blog right now and some messages go to spam or they are mixed in with many other emails. This  new email address will be available to everyone – not just the readers who were given my personal email address.

The new email is – crankyandtaxing@gmail.com
